Diego Dolcini origami satin peep toe pumps
Sometimes, I have far more fun perusing the shoe collections of lesser-known designers than those of footwear heavyweights. Italian designer Diego Dolcini has been plying his trade since the mid-1990s, and his Spring 2011 footwear collection is everything that Jimmy Choo’s spring collection should be – sexy, architectural and trend-referencing without trend-aping.

Alexander McQueen Spring 2012 Collection
After going to the Daphne Guinness exhibition at F.I.T I was definitely inspired to do an article on Alexander McQueen’s 2012 Spring heel collection. Creative Director Sarah Burton showcased a range of silhouettes for this collection from classical to theatrical. This heel is definitely for the eccentric fashionista with its gold studs and high stiletto heel.

In July 2010, the label was awarded the prestigious “Who Is On Next” accessories prize by Vogue Italia. The label also recently created the “Quorra” sandal for the Tron : Legacy film, in collaboration with Disney.
Modern art, European design, pop culture and nightlife are some of Jerome’s inspirations. “I initially think in terms of shape, silhouette and structure when I design. It’s later on that I bring fashion in the equation”.
Born in Quebec, his interest for design was shaped through art and music. “I started drawing shoes as a teenager after watching a Deee-Lite videoclip. I was influenced by its unique styling, but it was the overstated retro footwear that first caught my attention”.
JEROME C. ROUSSEAU is available at highly reputed retailers worldwide, including Barneys, Saks Fifth Avenue, Harvey Nichols, Browns, Le Bon Marche, Holt Renfrew, Dover Street Market and others.
The JEROME C. ROUSSEAU footwear is expertly handcrafted in Italy.

Thierry Mugler High Heels
Ever heard of Thierry Mugler?
He is the most erotic fashion designer ever, He uses the highest and most exotic spike heels ever! I just love the shoe designs.
Ruth Davis Spring 2012
Industrial Art plays a strong role in Ms. Davis’s fabulous collection for Fall. The screws used for the first and final heel in this article represents female industrialism and I cannot help but think of Rosie the Riveter and her “We Can Do It” slogan. Female independence and strength has always been an influence on Ruthie’s artistic and philanthropic endeavors with her promotion of “Girl Power” Another reason why I like this collection so much is the use of bright colored patent leathers to give those silhouettes a little 80s color pop flavor.

Rory Nichols
Rory recently finished his specialist footwear design course at the London College of Fashion and is looking for an opportunity to start a career in footwear design and development.
At university Rory engaged himself in footwear design and development, business within a fashion brand and also learned the skills necessary to make fully functional/wearable footwear i.e pattern cutting techniques, leather enhancement, shoe lasting plus much more.
Rory's design style uses very clean, often angular lines making his work extremely bold and eye catching; this is often enhanced by his use of colour which is frequently daring and unusual. Rory comes from a working class background; his father is a highly skilled carpenter and joiner so from a young age Rory learned a wide variety of skills such as wood turning, joining techniques and also how to operate machinery. This had a definite effect on how Rory works as he has a very hands on approach to all his work and always endeavored to produce his own pieces whilst studying at university.
Rory is currently seeking employment within the fashion footwear market but would also love to diversify into any of the fashion markets as he has a strong interest in fashion clothing and accessories as a whole.
